Mental Health and Artificial Intelligence – Looking for Ambitious and Talented Computer Sciences Talent

I am Anthony, a 3rd year BSocSc undergraduate (Psychology and Philosophy major) who has a vision about the future development of mental health services. Having substantial knowledge and experience in psychology and business, I believe a partner talented in computer sciences (and especially AI) would be perfect.

Despite our best efforts, mental health issues remain as one of the most prominent challenges of our age. This is attributable to the extensive training required of mental health professionals, as well as the limiting nature of face-to-face psychotherapy. Mental health services has longed been conceived as resistant to technology given the human-centred nature the profession, but recent development and research suggest otherwise. For example, researchers at University of Colorado, Boulder developed an app based on machine learning that has shown promise in the diagnosis of depression and anxiety disorder. Thus at this point in time, we are in the perfect position to tackle mental health issues with the aid of technology.
