iDendron Incubation Programme

Applications for cohort 4 is now open to HKU students and alumni until 31st December!!

The iDendron Incubation Programme (iIP) is a high-impact six-month programme designed to help early-stage startups gain momentum through deep mentor engagement, investor relation building and exposure outreaching. We aim to create a community connecting potential elite founders from a wide spectrum of fields who have a common vision to create an impact on the future world.

What do we offer?
  • Mentorship: Each team will be matched with up to 2 mentors. Incubatees can also access to our pool of mentors for advice and guidance. 
  • Networking Opportunity: Regular networking sessions will be organized for iDendron incubatees to meet with industry experts, successful entrepreneurs and Venture Capitalists. 
  • Professional Services Support:  Free legal consultations and Amazon Web Services credits will be provided. 
  • Public Exposure: Pitch Day(s) and exhibitions will be organized. Articles and stories on company’s achievements will be featured in HKU newsletters, website and other relevant channels. 
  • Workshops and Talks: We will invite industry experts and entrepreneurs to do sharing in marketing, branding, fundraising and more. All incubatees are welcome to attend the workshops for free.
  • Outreach Opportunity: Free tickets for attending local and overseas competitions and exhibitions. Field trips to explore overseas and regional market and get connected with the local contacts of startup ecosystem.
  • Use of iDendron Space: iDendron incubatees will be given workspaces at iDendron, according to the no. of team members. You are also allowed to use the meeting rooms and event space for free.
  • Part of the iIP Alumni Network: iDendron is creating an alumni network for sharing experience and resources between past and existing incubatees. This hopefully can become a valuable asset for the HKU startup ecosystem.
  • High potential early-stage startups with a minimum viable product, or preclinical data or prototype for medical-related innovations; and
  • A company registered and incorporated in Hong Kong for less than 3 years as of the date of the application deadline, with at least 20% ownership by HKU students, alumni or professoriate staff; or
  • A team with at least one founder of HKU students, alumni or professoriate staff, and the company to be registered with at least 20% ownership by the above HKU member(s).
Selection Criteria

All applications will be assessed by the iDendron management team based on:

(i) Product/Services: addressing critical need, disruptive advantage over competition, available market size, degree of technology viability.

(ii) Team: commitment of the team, founders’ relevant experience and skill sets, and marketing & sales expertise or access.

(iii) Development Plan: clearly structured and phased developments, identification of tangible development targets or KPIs for the coming 12 months, realistic financial estimates for each phase.

(iv) Market Positioning: appealing value proposition for targeted customers, identification of product features, competitive difference from market leaders;

(v) Business Model: feasibility of pricing strategy, identification of first and second adopter groups, feasibility of sales channels, partnership plans, cash-flow viability.


We expect commitment from the founders (which is necessary for every surviving startup) while we are here to help and support. 

Upon acceptance, startups are expected to submit bimonthly reports followed by face-to-face meetings with iDendron management team for discussing progress or support needed.

Startups are also expected to support iDendron management team in preparing case studies and attending experience sharing events within 12 months following the end of the iIP.

*IMPORTANT* Applicants shall read the Programme Guideline before you apply.  Shortlistees will be notified by emails before 10th January 2022, for an interview in mid- to late January 2022. The incubation period is tentatively arranged for February to August 2022.
