Background
Southeast Asia’s tech startup scene has been gaining spotlight in recent years. Apart from successful unicorns like Grab and Zilingo, Southeast Asian startups have also lured large number of venture capitalists and private equity investors.
Meanwhile, Thailand has set out on an ambitious plan to turn the country into the global hub for Asian and global start-ups through legal infrastructure upgrades and better access to funds. In 2019, Thailand ranks second and after Singapore in deal value with near USD$4 billion. With the growing Thai startup community, the number and size of startups and funding amount, it is believed that Thailand will become another important startup hub in the region.
