Geography and technology have played key roles in uniquely making Hong Kong a global hub. Shipping and dockyards, an international air transportation centre, and logistics networks are notable examples. Today the city is a global financial centre; however, the ‘goods’ of tomorrow are increasingly knowledge-based and so the challenge facing Hong Kong is how to be a global hub in this new digital world.
